Hershel "Glen" Robinson Jr., a cherished soul known for his warm heart and industrious spirit, passed away peacefully at his home in Keosauqua on November 27, 2023, at the age of 75. Born on June 17, 1948, in the same town that he would eventually call his final home, Glen was the embodiment of a life well-lived, filled with love, hard work, and a dedication.
Glen's early years in Keosauqua were marked by the close-knit bonds of family and friends. He was the beloved son of Hershel Glen Sr. and Verna Louise (Scotton) Robinson, who instilled in him the values of kindness and perseverance. Glen's formative years were spent in Keosauqua, and he was a proud graduate of Van Buren High School, where he showcased his athletic talents on the football field.
The year 1968 was a significant one for Glen, as he married the love of his life, Velma M. Fiscus, on July 5th. Together, they embarked on a journey that would see them build a family and a life filled with joy and purpose. Glen's professional life was as varied as it was fulfilling. He dedicated over two decades of service to Acme Printing Ink in Kansas City, MO, where he honed his skills and work ethic. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own a woodworking business and an arts and crafts store, in Arkansas and Missouri, where he shared his passion for creativity with others.
Even in his later years, Glen found joy in working at a golf course in Missouri, an experience that allowed him to connect with others over shared interests. Upon retiring, he returned to Keosauqua, where he continued to engage with his community and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
Glen's legacy is carried on by his loving family, including his beloved daughter, Brenda K. Siebert and her husband Marvin, his brothers, Clarence C. and Jack R. Robinson, and his sister, Sandra L. Cigich. He was a loving grandfather and a proud great-grandfather of whom brought immense joy into his life. His relationships extended beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of many other relatives and friends who will miss his presence dearly.
While Glen's passing is a somber occasion, it is also an opportunity to reflect on a life that was full of love and laughter. He was a man who made a lasting impact on those around him, not only through his work but through the strength of his character and the depth of his compassion.
Glen was preceded in death by his dear parents, Hershel Sr. and Verna, his beloved wife Velma, and his daughter Tricia L. Royston in 2018. Though they are no longer with us, the memories they created together remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew them.
A celebration of Glen's life will be held at a later date, providing an opportunity for those who loved him to come together and honor his memory. His cremains will be privately interred at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
Glen's journey through life was marked by the love he gave and the love he received. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we take solace in knowing that his legacy of kindness, hard work, and dedication to family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
