Loren Michael Holm, 82, of Quincy, Illinois, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024, at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Loren was born on November 1, 1941, in Fairfield, Iowa, to the late Harley Earl Holm and Vera Lorene (Foss) Holm. His life was marked by dedication to his family, his career, and his community, leaving a legacy of love and service.

Loren grew up in rural Stockport, Iowa, where he developed a strong work ethic and a keen interest in science and technology. He pursued his education at Iowa Wesleyan College and was only one semester shy of graduating when he embarked on his professional journey. Loren's career in the medical field began as a licensed Radiologic Technologist, and he later worked as a Radiation Therapy Technologist at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa. His thirst for knowledge and innovation led him to become a BioMed Engineer, a role he excelled in across Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri.
The entrepreneurial spirit in Loren was undeniable. He founded and operated the Quincy Hobby Center for over 50 years, a testament to his passion for hobbies. Through his store, Loren connected with countless individuals, sharing his enthusiasm for model building and various crafts, which became a cornerstone of the community.

Loren's commitment to service was evident in his longstanding involvement with the Workman Lodge No. 634 AF & AM Masonic Lodge in Stockport, where he was a member for more than 50 years. His love for history and tradition found an outlet in the Society for Creative Anachronism, where he engaged in historical reenactments and fostered a sense of camaraderie and education about past eras.

Loren's life was graced by his marriage to Linda Davis Holm, with whom he shared countless memories and built a family that was the center of his world. Together, they raised four daughters, Michelle Raley, Laurie Holm, Mirinda Gilstrap and Vera Kirsten Emanuele and five grandchildren. Loren was a guiding light in their lives, imparting wisdom, humor, and love in equal measure.

He also leaves behind two sisters, Janet Holm and Patricia Burch, who will remember him for his warmth, integrity, and the generous spirit he carried throughout his life. Loren was preceded in death by his parents, and his departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him.

A Masonic service honoring Loren's life and contributions will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 17, 2024, at the Cranston Funeral Home in Fairfield, Iowa. The service will be followed by a graveside service by Pastor Mark Clark and interment at Spencer Cemetery in Stockport, Iowa, where Loren will be laid to rest in his hometown soil. Memorials in Loren's honor to Shriners Hospitals, and Knights Templar Eye Foundation may be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 643 Hill and Brook Quincy, IL 62305

Loren's life was a portrait of dedication, not just to his personal and professional endeavors, but to the enrichment of others' lives. His story does not end with his passing but continues through the love and memories he leaves behind.
