Lucy Ann Dietzman was born on November 26, 1960, in Washington, IA to Robert and Winifred Moeller Fritz. Her early education was spent in Pleasant Plain, IA before coming to Fairfield and graduating with the Fairfield High School Class of 1979. Shortly after graduation Lucy began working at the Packwood Elevator and then the Batavia Elevator where she worked until its closing. She found a job at Jefferson County Equipment in Fairfield where she met the love of her life, Matt Dietzman. The two were married at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas in 1997 and returned home to have a large wedding in front of family and friends. Together they became the loving parents of twin boys, Brendan and Malcolm. She loved her role as wife and mother, and cherished every moment spent with family.
Lucy and Matt started MJD Sales and Service in Keosauqua and worked side by side for many years. She eventually took a job as a cook at the Van Buren High School where she would remain until her health would no longer allow. Lucy was a gifted craftsman and woodworker. She was responsible for many of the crafted pieces in their home. She loved to garden and spend time outdoors working on her projects. Above all, time with family was what she cherished most. She will be deeply missed by her family, her friends, and her community.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, a brother in infancy, and her father-in-law, Donald “Dutch” Dietzman.
