Patricia Joan Heminger Obituary (1930

Patricia Joan (White) Heminger, 88, passed away peacefully during the early morning hours of Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Keosauqua Health Care Center in Keosauqua, IA. Joan was born on May 30, 1930 in Harrisburg, IA to Helen Carita (McComb) White and Rollo Hubert White. She grew up in Bonaparte and graduated from Bonaparte High School in 1948. Joan married Donald Rex Heminger in December 1950. Joan was full of life and was always happy to be around people. She enjoyed spending time with her family and sharing countless stories of her childhood memories with her family and friends. In her early years, she had a big garden and enjoyed snapping beans and canning. She also enjoyed being outdoors and watching Western Movies. She was always very interested in researching and talking about Genealogy, learning about history and looking at old pictures. In her recent years, she loved attending church at the nursing home and enjoyed singing along to gospel songs. Joan was retired from Sheaffer Pen Company, where she worked for more than twenty years. She was especially proud of her children and the fact that she had raised them alone after the death of her husband, Donald Rex Heminger who passed away on August 21, 1965. Joan is survived by six daughters, Cheryl Folker of Farmington IA, Carita Crank of Bentonsport, IA, Jennifer Topping of LaHarpe, IL, Crysta Hughes of Paducah, KY, Nancy Eastin of Croton, IA, Mary Rowley of Summit Point, WV; one sister, Anita King of O'Fallon, MO; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great grandson, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Rex Heminger; her son, Ronald Rex Heminger; parents, Rollo Hubert White and Helen Carita (McComb) White; one sister, Janet Ilene (White) Pratt; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with Pastor Phil Campbell officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, June 4, 2018 with family present to greet friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions made to Vernon Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home.
